PHOTOGRAPHER Sue Packer's third book of fascinating pictures looks at the close historical relationship between humankind and our pets.

Through the lens of her camera she captures brilliantly the affection most of us show for dogs, cats, goldfish, horses and hamsters - and even slugs, spiders and snakes. Throughout the book there are reflections of love, joy, pride, zaniness and, inevitably, sadness.

Most of the pictures are accompanied by a famous phrase or saying by a literary giant or philosopher.

Sue's previous books have featured babies and Cheltenham ladies.
