COMMUNITY projects and economic and environmental improvements could all be coming to Middlewich as the town embarks on a healthcheck initiative.
And Middlewich residents are being asked to get involved and help shape the town's future.
A Market Towns Healthcheck Initiative is being undertaken by the Middlewich Vision Partnership, co-ordinated by Stephen Dent and Caroline O'Brien.
The healthcheck is being launched at a community event on Saturday, March 13 at Middlewich Civic Hall, when there will be street entertainers and a children's funfair, as well as performances by Middlewich Big Band and a local dance school.
Chalky White, chairman of Middlewich Vision Partnership, said: "The healthcheck process is vital to the regeneration of the town and surrounding countryside.
"We need to prove to Government and other agencies that the regeneration of the area is being planned in accordance with the wishes of its residents.
"This will attract national funding into the area, which would otherwise not be available."
The aim is to identify the economic, environmental, social strengths and weaknesses of the town and the surrounding area and draw up an action plan.
Middlewich Vision is a community-led partnership with a number of voluntary organisations, businesses and youth groups lending their support, backed by Middlewich Town Council, Cheshire County Council and Congleton Borough Council.
Stephen Dent, healthcheck co-ordinator, said: "There has been an excellent response from the community and I am delighted that so many of them are willing to give their time and expertise to the healthcheck process.
"The process will build on the work already started by the vision working groups to create a new future for the area which looks very rosy indeed."
Residents are urged to air their views by visiting the civic hall between 10am and 5pm on March 13, or send comments to the Vision Healthcheck Office based in the Victoria Building, Lewin Street, Middlewich, CW10 9AT, telephone and fax 01606 841379, or e-mail admin@middlewichvision.fsbusiness.co.uk.
