Hospital

plans go on display

PLANS for the new £12.5million treatment centre being built at Leighton Hospital in Crewe will be put on display in Middlewich next week.

The designs will go on show in Middlewich Library and the hospital itself, from Tuesday, March 9 to Friday, March 19.

The treatment centre will provide purpose-built facilities including theatres for day surgery and endoscopy rooms.

Building work will start soon and the completed centre is due to open for patients in summer 2005.

When the new centre opens, it is intended that 79 per cent of all surgery carried out at the hospital will be undertaken as day cases.

In turn, the aim is to allow quicker access to services, reduce waiting times and offer greater choice to patients about the dates and times they receive care.
