We're all watching

I READ in the letter from 'Watching Taxpayer' last week that the member allowance budget for members on Cheshire fire authority has been bumped up by 32 per cent.

If this is true, who are the local Halton councillors on this authority and how do they justify this increase?

I think we should be told.

Like the other reader, I will be watching the fire authority's levy on the local council tax.

If it is a high figure like the police, I will know what at least one of the increased costs is and will vote accordingly, whether my councillors are on that authority or not.

If I'm wrong, I will be happy to reconsider, so how about it councillors?

Is a 32 per cent increase correct?
