Masked raiders used truncheon in robbery

DETECTIVES are hunting masked raiders who stole money from a security guard after they threatened him with a truncheon.

The robbers followed the man who was delivering cash into the BP service station at Oakwood Gate, in Birchwood, just before 8pm on Wednesday.

They stole a quantity of money from him after demanding cash and brandishing an eight-inch truncheon-style weapon.

The raiders escaped in a red Seat Leon which then sped off. The car was believed to be an M-reg, although the plates may not have been genuine.

A third raider is believed to have been waiting outside during the incident. Nobody was injured during the raid.

The first two attackers were between 5ft 9ins tall and 5ft 11ins tall, of broad build, wearing dark jackets and trousers, gloves and black woollen Balaclavas with eyeholes.

The third man was 6ft tall, wearing a green boiler suit and a black Balaclava.

Anyone with information about the robbery should contact DC Mark Rowan on 01244 613833 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
