Andy's sights set on filling Army vacancies

WARRINGTON'S Army careers information office is looking better than ever and hoping to attract even more new recruits after a £50,000 makeover.

The office, on Winmarleigh Street, now has an immaculate white fence, and a three-metre sign on top of the building.

The refurbishment also includes new carpets and paintwork, topped off with new furniture and floodlighting.

The appointment of a new senior recruiter for the office, it is hoped, will also help the Army to fill some of its 15,000 vacancies for 16- to 27-year-olds across the UK.

Staff Sergeant Andy Waldron, aged 44, has 28 years of Army service, serving in Belize, Cyprus, Germany and Northern Ireland, and has spent seven years within recruitment.

He said: " I am looking forward to developing the skills of the young recruits in Warrington.

"The experiences I have gained during my time in the Army will give a positive message to all those coming into the office. I am looking forward to answering any questions people might have about the Army."
