Sea cadets get their land legs

NEWTON sea cadets are learning dry land skills.

The 24-strong group of boys and girls received specialist bird box-making tuition on Tuesday, February 24, at Warrington's B&Q warehouse.

Janet Shelton, chairwoman of Newton-le-Willows's sea cadets, said they had all been eager to learn how to make the boxes. She said: "It's coming to that time of year when you're supposed to put boxes out.

"The cadets like making things, so enjoyed themselves and the staff had a go as well."

The group were invited to the B&Q run workshop in December when the DIY store gave them £100 worth of paint.

Three members of staff also helped the cadets re-paint their Earlestown base.
