YOUNGSTERS from a special school in Newton got a guided tour of St Helens Police Station to help them gain a lifesavers' qualification.
Merseyside Police Community Support Officers (CSOs) helped five Mill Green School students learn how to handle an emergency as part of their Young Lifesavers Award part one. The officers took the students on a tour of the station to show what goes on behind the scenes in a busy police station.
Anne Carrera said: "The students were brilliant. They really enjoyed their day with us and we'd like to wish them the best of luck when they take their exams."
The students visited the three emergency services as part of their course and learned how to do tasks, such as making a 999 call - including learning what information a 999 operator needs to help someone.
Following the students' visit to the station, the CSOs made a trip to Mill Green School to present them with certificates to commemorate the day.
Janice Schroter, head of the leavers department at the school, said: "The links that we have built with the CSOs have been of tremendous benefit to our students in helping them to achieve their qualification. We greatly appreciate the time and effort they have put into helping us."
