MP full of praise for Shopwatch scheme

A SCHEME that has cut retail crime by almost half in Fearnhead has been praised by Warrington North MP Helen Jones.

The Shopwatch scheme has received £29,000 in funding from the Home Office to help shop owners combat retail crime.

Mrs Jones said: "The scheme at Fearnhead is working well and I was keen to ensure that the Home Office was aware of its success so that it can be replicated.

"The minister expressed a wish to visit the scheme and I hope she will do so soon, not least to discuss with the local police how it can be extended."

Home Office Minister Caroline Flint has confirmed that she wants more of these partnerships to be developed like the ones already operating in Warrington, and she has also congratulated those who have worked on the Warrington scheme.
