New security measures bring quick results

A PRIMARY school has given its security a major revamp in a bid to stamp out vandalism.

Alderman Bolton School, in Latchford, has introduced eight security cameras, and has also improved its lighting and put up new fences.

And head teacher Lynda Buckley says that the measures have already made a difference, making the school a much more secure environment for pupils and staff.

Vandalism at the school - including windows being smashed, and youths using the grounds as a place to drink and smoke - was costing £14,000 per term to repair and clean up.

But since the new security measures were introduced, the price of repairing vandalism has dropped to £1,000 per term, freeing up funds to be spent on teaching equipment.

The security work was done by Warrington firm Blue Pearl, of Marsh House Lane.
