High price to pay

ONCE again we see a Labour Government in and strikes and pay increases breaking out everywhere.

Local council workers grow in quantity every year in the big tower of paperwork called the Municipal Buildings and two other headquarters in Runcorn.

Bad enough we have to see billions squandered by the Government on railways that don't work and European directives, but locally we have a council that creates white-collar jobs at every opportunity.

Halton residents pay a very high council tax and it's about time some of the paper pushers were thinned down in numbers.

Anyone who looks at the list of departments in the lift at the Municipal Building can see what we pay for - European and Regional Affairs, Committee Services, Communications and Marketing, Property Services, the list goes on and on.

It doesn't take long for the Labour party to revert to its true colours.

Soon it will be beer and sandwiches at number 10 again.

There are many professionals like teachers and frontline workers like bin men who deserve good wages, but there are a lot who no one would miss paying for tomorrow.

How many people earn more than £20,000 at Halton Council?

It bet it's a higher percentage than any other employer for miles around, all financed by local council tax.
