Garage staff praised

GARAGE staff were praised by firefighters for their prompt response to a car blaze.

A car being repaired caught fire at Widnes Motor Company in Liverpool Road. Staff tried to extinguish the flames and realised they needed professional help.

Leading firefighter Keith Stockdale, said: "The rapid and correct action of the garage staff evacuating the building and being able to give clear and concise information was a help to the fire crews when they arrived."

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the toxic fumes and cleared the building of smoke.

The incident happened on Monday, February 16.
