Man robbed by knifeman

A MAN was threatened at knifepoint by a thug who stole cash from him.

The victim - a member of staff at the Ship Inn Pub, Blackbrook - was in his car outside the pub when a man armed with a knife opened the driver's door and demanded cash.

He stole money and then ran away with an accomplice. Police say two men fitting the crooks' descriptions were later seen on the banks of Sankey Canal.

One of the men is described as being in his early 20s, between 5ft 9ins and 6ft tall with a medium build. He was unshaven and wore a dark jacket, dark trousers and trainers.

Sergeant Stuart Routledge said police believe the victim was specifically targeted. He said: "We would advise anyone in a similar profession carrying large amounts of money to make sure they vary their routine and do not transport cash at the same time every day."

Witnesses or anyone with information can contact Sgt Routledge at St Helens Robbery Initiative on 0151 777 6083 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
