Speed cams go mobile

MOTORISTS across Halton are being urged to kill their speed in an attempt to reduce accidents on the borough's roads.

Mobile speed cameras will be operating in both Runcorn and Widnes during the last week in February at sites with a history of collisions.

A spokesman for Cheshire Safety Camera Partnership, said: "Cameras and mobile vehicles are deliberately visible to remind people that a few miles an hour faster do make a significant difference."

Collision black-spots include Halton Road, Clifton Road, Astmoor Road and Warrington Road in Runcorn, and Hough Green Road, Prescot Road, and Birchfield Road in Widnes.

Cheshire authorities aims to reduce the number of people killed or injured at camera sites by 40 per cent by 2010.
