RESCUE dogs needing veterinary treatment are to get cash aid, thanks to a new venture in the Warrington area.
Catherine Moore, of Dingleway, Appleton, is launching District Dogs, which will help to raise funds for the vets' bills of animals in foster homes or kennels.
She has already raised more than £100 in donations for Kiwi, a greyhound staying at Rose Tree Farm boarding kennels in Cuerdley, which needed treatment to remove lumps.
And now she is working with Cathy Clements, who is best known for running a swan sanctuary in Callands, to collect cash for the treatment of Chino, a Neapolitan bull mastiff.
She said: "When it comes to getting funds to treat rescue dogs, there is a real gap in the Warrington area."
Chino was found around three months ago at a pub in Liverpool, starved and chained up.
The treatment costs will come to around £300, which includes an operation to fix Chino's eyelashes, which have been growing inside its eyes, as well as costs for antibiotics.
The National Canine Defence League has paid for the dog to be neutered, but apart from this, District Dogs has been unable to secure any funds from anywhere, except for donations.
If you would like to find out more about Catherine's work, or make a donation, call her on 213860 or write to her at 63, Dingleway, Appleton.
