We need MPs that reflect views of their constituents

WELL said John Ramsdale re the abstention by MP Helen Jones on tuition fees (Points of View, February 5).

May I add that here in Warrington South we are even more aggrieved in that our MP, Helen Southworth, always votes with the Government.

It has repeatedly had her support not only on tuition fees but on foundation hospitals and the war in Iraq as well.

Most sensible people would agree that no government of whatever persuasion can get everything right every time - (especially when breaking manifesto promises is involved).

Having noted their frequent photo appearances in the Guardian, I suggest that both Helens stand for the Borough Council in future and leave Parliamentary representation to candidates willing to reflect the views of their constituents.

Both women seem to have lost sight of the fact that they were elected as Warrington's representatives in Westminster, not as Tony Blair's representatives in Warrington.

There is a difference.
