MIDDLEWICH is gearing up for the prospect of a local derby in the final of the Mid Cheshire FA Challenge Cup for the second time in as many years.
Middlewich Town and Middlewich Town Reserves are both through to the semi finals of the cup and have been kept apart in the draw.
Should the sides win their matches, against Northwich Vics Reserves and Witton Albion Reserves respectively, then the two will meet in a repeat of last year's Wincham Park final.
Town booked their place in the semis with a 2-1 win over Barnton, thanks to goals from Murphy and Roberts, while the reserves beat Crewe Bentley with a solitary Gill Gomas strike.
Last season the final was a whole-hearted six goal affair, just shaded by Town.
But this season could be the Reserves' year as they have been the form team in the Mid Cheshire league in recent weeks.
Town are 10 points adrift of Barnton at the top of Division One while the Reserves, who have lost just once this season, are on level points with Linotype Reserves at the top of the Reserve Division but have two games in hand.
The semi finals will be played on March 13, going to extra time and penalties if necessary.
