Bringing businesses together

THE business community in Middlewich came together for a networking meeting last Tuesday.

Middlewich town councillor Emma Brown has spearheaded the initiative to encourage businesses in the area to work together and organised what she hopes is the first of many meetings with the business community.

The aim of the meetings is to bring local businesses together to network and keep up to date with local government and non-government initiatives influencing Middlewich's business economy.

Clr Brown said: "There isn't really anything in Middlewich to bring businesses together at the moment so I just wanted to try to start something that people could get involved in.

"We wanted an informal meeting so that people can mingle and get chatting to other businesses."

There was a good turn out at the meeting, which Clr Brown said was encouraging.

Stephen Dent and Caroline O'Brien, from Middlewich Vision, gave a brief talk on the aims and objectives of the vision and how the business community can get involved.

David Lythgoe, headteacher at Middlewich High School, gave a talk on the school's bid for specialist status and appealed for help from businesses.

Warrington and Cheshire Business Link also gave a presentation on its bid to the Cheshire Rural Recovery Programme for the proposed Rural Business Regeneration Project.

If successful, it could bring more than £200,000 worth of funding to help small family businesses and organisations.

Clr Brown is now working towards the next meeting.
