GRANTS of up to £5,000 are once again being offered to community groups in Halton, thanks to the World.
The Gannett Foundation, the charitable arm of our parent company is inviting applications for their next round of grant making.
Two Halton charities won grants in the last round. Halton Community Transport received £5,000 to help fund a wheelchair accessible coach to enable disabled passengers to go on day trips and outings.
North Cheshire Brookfield Gym Club was awarded £5,000 to help their athletes compete in this year's Olympics.
Worthy causes and organisations in Widnes and Runcorn are urged to bid for our cash grants.
Application forms, available from: Cheryl Connor, Editorial Assistant, World Group Newspapers, 162-164 Albert Road, Widnes, Cheshire WA8 6LJ, must be returned by Wednesday, March 24.
Strict criteria governs these awards.
Don't apply if you are an individual, not a registered charity, belong to a national or regional organisation, unless the project addresses specific local community need, a uniformed youth group, an animal charity or a medical or research organisation.
Money will not be awarded for a contribution to a salary, the promotion of religious causes, endowment funds or general appeals, general contributions to costs or multi year campaigns.
As a condition of receiving a Gannett grant, the World will expect the recipients to co-operate with publicity. We may ask for the Gannett logo to be displayed on major items of equipment, such as minibuses.
