A HEARTBROKEN Orford woman says she is 'dying inside and out' because her Canadian husband has been refused entry back into the UK after he returned home to the bedside of his sick father.
Mum-of-two Jill Ombramonti, aged 38, of Grasmere Avenue, fell head over heels in love with Bruno Ombramonti, 50, and, following her divorce, sold up to emigrate with her son and daughter to Canada, where she married him.
But, after a year, the couple returned with Jill's two children to set up home in the UK.
This time, Bruno sold his belongings, resigned from his job and came to the UK on a visitor's visa. The couple eventually found a home and attempted to change Bruno's visa status.
The application was turned down by the Home Office and the couple set about appealing against the decision, a process that they were told could take up to two years.
But, after living in Orford for a year, Bruno received a call from home telling him that his father was seriously ill and he flew out to visit him.
When he attempted to return to the UK, he was refused entry and the couple later discovered that because Bruno had left the UK the ongoing appeal had been stopped.
Distraught Jill said: "Every day is hell, I feel so desperate. My Bruno took good care of me and without him I'm dying inside and out. He was carer to me and my 12-year-old son who is insulin dependent and we are lost without him. He is my soulmate, my best friend, my everything. He is a wonderful stepfather and husband. We've finally found each other after all this time, quite late in life, and it seems that everything is just going against us."
Bruno said: "In our short but wonderful life together, my wife and I have had to overcome more obstacles than most people have had in their lifetime.
"Things have been extremely hard but we have stayed the course because we love each other and know that the gods cannot conspire against us continually."
A Home Office spokesman said they were unable to go into detail about individual cases.
Helen Jones, MP for Warrington North, said she would investigate, adding: "Our enquiries are ongoing. We are pursuing the matter with the Home Office. We cannot comment any further."
