Pilot scheme for school dinners

A PILOT scheme, aimed at helping staff manage school meals more effectively, is set to take off in Warrington later this month.

The groundbreaking scheme, which will be launched at Stockton Heath Primary School, will allow teachers and school secretaries to collate information about pupils' eating habits and dinner money allowance.

Youngsters will simply be able to charge the cost of their lunch to their school account.

Gordon Carson, catering services manager for neighbourhood services department, said: "This sophisticated system is a breakthrough within the primary school setting.

"It's easy to operate, speeds up services times and frees up important school administration time."
