PART TIME PROBLEMS

NORTHWICH Vics manager Shaun Teale believes that the only way for the club to hold their own in the Nationwide Conference is to go full time.

However, he concedes that this in not possible without a huge injection of cash.

He said: "At the end of the day we need someone to put their money where their mouth is, allowing the club to go full time and that would give us a fighting chance.

"That's not having a go at the chairman and directors as they've done so much for the club and have been here a long time, but unless we can go full time it's simply not a level playing field.

"By going full time we could improve general fitness and improve our team play because we would have much more time together.

"Going full time makes every aspect stronger and increased things such as fitness by 10-fold.

"That was something I noticed against Morecambe who for 20 minutes of the match looked three yards faster than us."

Teale also believes that going full time would attract more players to the club.

He added: "Full time sides are financially better off than us and can attract more players - that certainly happened where Mark Beesley is concerned.

"He was happy to sign for us but at the last minute he got an offer to go full time at Hereford.

"You can't blame the lad and that's the massive difficulty - it all comes down to attracting players and obviously they all want the guarantee of full time football."

And this is not the only thing stopping players from signing for Vics at the moment.

The club's current league position and form is also making life difficult for Teale.

He added: "Because of the position we are in at the bottom of the league, attracting players to the club is very difficult.

"We've gone to other Conference clubs who've been willing to let players go, but the players themselves are unsure about coming to a club that might not be in the Conference next season."

And an already difficult job has become almost impossible for Teale following the news that six of his current squad are injured and a further two are set to leave as their loan deals come to an end.

Chris Royle, Colin Potts, Paul McGuire, Phil Brazier and Kieran Charnock are all out of Saturday's clash with Margate while Steve Garvey is facing a race against time to be fit.

Teale said: "We are down to the bare bones of the squad now but we've just got to get on with it and soldier on with what we have."
