High price to pay

IT was certainly interesting reading that Cllr McDermott was working very hard on this year's budget with a view to keeping the council tax as low as possible.

What a great pity he didn't work as hard last year.

If the people of Halton would have known what the council where planning last year I'm afraid Cllr McDermott and quite a few of his colleagues would now be the ex-councillors of Halton.

If you don't get it right this time, I'm afraid you'll pay a very high price.

For far too long Labour had been under the illusion that they can't be put out of office.

Well take a long look at Liverpool, they changed councils and haven't looked back.

On the cost saving exercise you are trying to carry out, I hardly think claiming £25,000 in expenses is really justified, that is unless you are driving a council-owned Ferrari.

I always thought councillors involved in council work did most in a voluntary position, but £500 per week is hardly voluntary.
