Housing landlord is one of the best

A HALTON landlord has been declared one of the best in the country by the Audit Commission.

Liverpool Housing Trust (LHT), the first major housing association to be inspected in Merseyside, has received one of the highest ratings in Britain.

David Bebb, LHT group chief executive, said: "Naturally, we are delighted to have received such a high rating.

"Our real interest now is in tackling the areas where there is still room for improvement and working with our customers to keep raising the standards."

The LHT group, which owns and manages 16,000 homes on Merseyside, was found to be 'satisfactory' with 'strong corporate and strategic capabilities for delivering continuous improvement."

Out of around 25 housing associations inspected so far, only four have received such high marks.

Pleasing

Mr Bebb, added: "What I find most pleasing is that we have received a higher rating than many housing associations in other parts of the country who don't have anything like the same physical, economic and social challenges to deal with that we have here on Merseyside."

More than 97 per cent of urgent repairs, he said, were completed within the set target time last year.

"The inspector's verdict is a tribute to our superb, hard working staff and to the tenants who give so much of their time to helping us continually improve our service," added Mr Bebb.
