NORTHWICH will be gripped with World Cup fever on Friday when the most glittering prize in rugby union comes to town.
The Webb Ellis trophy comes to Moss Farm as part of its national tour - and a huge night of entertainment has been organised to coincide with its arrival.
As well as myriad street entertainment provided by DAN, which will include a fantastic fire breathing display, there will also be rugby matches, special promotions and musical performances.
The aim of the event is not only to celebrate the outstanding achievement of the national rugby union side, but also to raise cash for the John Blower Trust, after the Northwich RUFC player broke his neck during a league match last year.
Mr Blower is now facing life without the use of his arms and legs and will have to move to a specially adapted home.
He will also have to pay an estimated £30,000 a year minimum in care costs.
Sam Naylor, chairman of Northwich RUFC, said: "The weather's going to be a big factor, but we've tried to put a bit of a show on for everyone.
"There should be plenty going on. Let's put on a great show for the whole town."
The Webb Ellis roadshow will arrive at 5.30pm and there will be music and non-stop entertainment until it leaves at about 9pm.
The club has worked hard with Winnington Park RFC, Cheshire RFU and Vale Royal Borough Council to make the event as entertaining as possible.
There will also be the chance for people to be photographed with the trophy, courtesy of Ilfords, and all proceeds from the event will be donated to the John Blower Trust.
