School banks on classroom makeover from Barclays staff

A DISUSED classroom block at Burtonwood Primary School had a Changing Rooms-style makeover, with a team of 31 volunteers creating a community room and crche.

Barclays staff at Radbroke Hall in Knutsford donned their overalls and grabbed their paintbrushes to transform the building at the Green Lane school after securing a £1,500 grant from the company's employee volunteering scheme.

As well as working on the community room and crche, the hard-working team also cleared some of the woodland on site and created a nature trail for the youngsters.

Jeanette Stockton, one of the volunteers, said: "We are delighted to be able to help make a difference in the community.

"Everybody wins from a project like this and the team has had fun, achieving something to be proud of."
