Community projects land extra funding

THOUSANDS of pounds worth of extra borough council funding has been earmarked for community projects in Westy, following a meeting of the Westy Forum last week.

A new road safety initiative has been granted £5,000 to add to the £5,000 already pledged by Warrington Borough Council.

The scheme will introduce road safety markings on Reynolds Street, Lindley Avenue, Richmond Avenue, Westy Lane, Whitley Avenue and Simkin Avenue.

Also, around £2,000 has been set aside for new youth equipment at the Westy Community Centre.

And £500 has been allocated to St Margaret's Community Centre for the Young Oldies group.

The Westy football team has also been granted £300 to spend on a new kit and other sports gear.
