Rallying cry!

STAFF at Warrington Housing Association enjoyed a day in the fast lane last week all to raise cash for the their chosen charity - Crossroads: Caring for Carers.

The association invited guests and contractors to take part in a racing tournament at Speedkarting Warrington, the largest indoor karting circuit in the UK, and raised £200 in the process.

Fiona Evans, business support officer at Warrington Housing Association, said: "Every year, staff at the association choose a charity to support that makes a real difference to the quality of life for people in the local community. One in six adults is a carer and Crossroads significantly improves their lives by providing practical support and giving them a break from their caring responsibilities."

There are 6.8 million carers in the UK, a third of whom say they have not had a break in the last two years. Crossroads is the largest charity in the world that offers in-the-home care and provides four million care hours every year to more than 33,000 carers across England and Wales.

Warrington Housing Association manages more than 1,200 houses in the town and is committed to improving the quality of life for communities in the Warrington area.

Dedicated to refurbishing and maintaining its stock for residents, the association provides services such as an energy-saving programme, a mortgage rescue scheme, and specialist accommodation for residents with learning difficulties and its learning project, the Warrington Community Resources Centre.
