Fun day in aid of hospital

THE Village Hotel & Leisure Club in Fallows Ways, Whiston is opening its doors on Sunday, February 8 for a fun-packed day for all ages with proceeds going to their nominated charity, Whiston Hospital.

Organisers expect it to be a day to remember with much to do and see. There will be loads for the kids to do with hair-braiding, face-painting and a ball pen, plus a 'Kidz Club Session' to keep them entertained.

The hotel's restaurant and caf will be holding live cook-offs with dishes off both menus being available for visitors to try throughout the day.

And the newly-refurbished leisure club will be open for the general public to tour and watch demonstrations of new exercise trends such as Khai Bo and Chi Ball, plus Pilates and Yoga.

Fantastic prizes

A superb DVD player will be up for grabs for the winner of the 'Village's Topical Quiz' which will run throughout the day. There will also be a grand raffle in aid of Whiston Hospital, to be drawn at 4pm, with fantastic prizes including 12 months free membership of the Village Hotel's leisure club worth more than £700; an overnight luxury stay; a personal training session; aeal for two; club guest passes and sweatshirts and sports bags.

For those who fancy a massage, beauty therapists will be offering five-minute power massages, Virgin Vie makeovers and facials, plus a chance to win 10 free sunbed sessions.

And for anyone out of shape after the excesses of Christmas, leisure staff will be on hand to test visitors' lung function, body fat index and flexibility followed by advice from personal trainers on the best way to get back into shape.

Meanwhile, those feeling fit and ready for anything can have a go at the 'Grip Strength Challenge' or talk to the hotel's scuba diving instructor or walking club organisers. Weightwatchers will also be there doing weigh-ins and offering advice.

General manager, Sean Burns, said: "This is the first time we have held such an event in aid of Whiston Hospital but if it is a success we would like it to be an annual occasion. The hospital is our chosen charity for 2004 as it is so close to us here and we are hoping to raise a lot of and have a good time in the process".

The open day at Village Liverpool kicks off at 10.30am and runs until 4.30pm. There is plenty of free parking, for further information contact 0151 449 2341.
