Get in the swim at rotary fundraiser

PEOPLE in Northwich are being urged to splash out on yet another important fundraising effort.

The Rotary Club of Northwich has begun its annual call for teams to enter its charity swimathon, due to take place in March.

It will be the fourth time the event has been held and will be in aid of Northwich and District Stroke Club, Northwich Victoria Infirmary, Arthritis Care and other rotary charities.

The swimathon, which will be held over Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14, at Moss Farm swimming pool, involves teams swimming for 55 minutes, with one member in the water at any one time.

Sponsored teams of six swimmers are needed and early entry is advised, as the number of places available is limited.

The aim is for the team to swim as many lengths as possible in the time available.

Brunner Mond is sponsoring the effort for the third time and past events have raised up to £12,000.

To get hold of an entry form, either log on to www.northwich.rotary-site.org or ring 01606 882220.

Teams stand to gain a certificate of achievement, a colour team photograph and a souvenir of the event - as well as the satisfaction in knowing that vital funds have been raised for local causes.
