DAREDEVILS are being invited to take the plunge and do an abseil for charity at a Davenham landmark.

The Anthony Nolan Trust is appealing for people to take part in an abseil down St Wilfrid's Church, which stands at about 80ft high and can be seen from the bypass.

The abseil will take place on Saturday, March 20.

Ruth Carter, area manager, said: "Abseilers will have a wonderful view from the top of the church before they make an exhilarating descent.

"No experience is necessary and our qualified instructors provide all the equipment and training to make sure that people get down safely."

The trust does not receive any Government or lottery funding and depends on fundraising events.
