Tough on pensioners

IT is a mystery how thousands of senior citizens struggling on their pensions are expected to pay soaring bills.

The average Council bill has soared by a staggering 60 per cent in seven years to more than £1000 a year.

The increasing cost has left many pensioners struggling to pay, but the increases have rarely been matched by improvements in local council services.

I am sure most seniors have had as much as they can stomach finding a small fortune for Council Tax as well as heating bills. Heating, gas and electricity are due for a huge increase, rubbing salt in the wound.

The Government and Council are foolish to ignore the growing 'Grey Army' which is mobilising against these mountainous bills.
