Grappenhall nets practice

GRAPPENHALL Cricket Club have a new skipper for the 2004 season.

Experienced hand John Worley will be leading the side, whose net practice starts on Monday, into Cheshire County League Division One action from April 24.

Club chairman Mike Tyerman said: "John has bags of experience, he knows how to bring the best out of young players and he has the abilities to play at Division One level too.

"He started out as one of our juniors 25 years ago and played for one of our double winning first eleven sides in the Manchester Association in the 1980s. He stopped playing but John has been back with us for the past three years and was captain of our second eleven last season."

Weekly net practice for the club's senior players starts on Monday at Bridgewater High School and runs from 7.30pm to 9pm. All members and any newcomers are welcome to attend. Junior nets will start at the beginning of March.
