Spring in the air at Padgate

PADGATE Trampolining Club have finalised plans to make a bigger impact on the competitive scene.

Members began entering competitions when head coach Ann Bishop-Rowe joined the club less than a year ago.

Since then they have made steady progress and they should continue to do so now that the club has set aside more time for them to train.

The club's most polished performers have been given an extra hour a week to practice their routines. As a result, the club's Monday training sessions now run from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

Club organiser Dawn Walker said: "Our sessions on Mondays are great fun.

"All of the children really enjoy themselves but we are looking to improve on the competitive side of the sport.

"The extra hour a week should help us to do that but our main aim at the moment is to recruit more members.

"We only have 20 or so members at present because not enough people know about us. There are not many trampolining clubs in Warrington and we offer a cheap and fun way for youngsters to spend some time."

The club, which has been based at Padgate Recreation Centre for the past 12 years, operates a proficiency award scheme whereby beginners start on badge one and aim to make their way up to badge 10 and beyond if they are good enough.

Members are aged between six and 18 but the club would be willing to incorporate adults if the interest was there.

Anyone interested in joining the club should contact Dawn on 815069.
