So here's to you Mr Robinson

Rylands A 21

Latchford Albion A 20

A MARK Robinson drop goal was all that separated Rylands A with Latchford's A team after a Gorsey Lane thriller.

The Rylands star kicked well throughout. He knocked over five penalty goals in the North West Counties Amateur Rugby League Division Six clash.

A superb 50 yards solo score from prop Terry Berry gave a young Rylands side the impetus to race into an early 8-0 lead.

Latchford responded with a Mick Green try before Anthony Poole showed electrifying pace to stretch Rylands' lead.

A Tony Humphries try kept Latchford in the game but ill discipline cost the visitors dear in the second half. Petulant play led to Robinson showing his kicking class to put Rylands 20-10 ahead.

Ryan Barnes scored a try to reduce Latchford's arrears before Robinson's drop goal gave the home side some breathing space.

A late Humphries try set up a thrilling climax but Rylands held out to take the spoils.

The stars of the show for Rylands, who entertain Parkside A at the weekend, were Jeff Robinson, Anthony Braide, Nick Braide and Paul Poole

Humphries, Glyn Taylor and Green shone for Latchford.
