Residents call for improvement to police service

POLICE are welcome to another large rise in their portion of the Council Tax precept, as long as residents see an improvement on the ground.

That was the verdict of the people attending last week's Vale Royal Police Forum.

Cheshire Police Authority is asking residents what they think of proposals to increase the police precept in the county by at least 14 per cent, which is the bare minimum required to meet the current level of service.

This follows on from last year's rise of 19.8 per cent, but this year's shortfall has been put down to a 'very low' Government grant for the next year.
