Dog fostering a success

MANCHESTER Dogs' Home reports that their festive fostering initiative has been an outstanding success.

Ninety-six dogs were fostered over the Christmas and New Year period, 48 dogs (50 per cent) were kept by their foster carers and given permanent homes with them.

The dogs, which came back to the home after the fostering period, had assessment forms completed by their foster carers giving details as to behaviour and character traits.

The vital information contained on the assessment forms has resulted in a further 44 of the returned dogs that took part in the scheme being permanently re-homed.

Of the original 96 dogs fostered out only four remain in the kennels environment after their period in a home environment.

The home is a charity, which relies heavily on public donations to enable it to carry on the vital work of caring for lost and abandoned dogs.

If you cannot re-home a dog, please help us to keep them by sending a donation to Manchester Dogs' Home, Appeals Office, Crofter's House, Moss Brook Road, Harpurhey, Manchester M9 5PG or telephone 0161 205 7136.
