Town council has high hopes for older buildings

TOWN councillors want to stop Winsford's older buildings from falling into disrepair.

Monday night's town council meeting saw members asked to keep an eye on buildings of architectural significance and report any concerns to Vale Royal Borough Council.

Clr Peter Gannon and Clr Tony Hooton both said they wanted to ensure that the town's 'turn of the last century' redbrick buildings on High Street such as the Guildhall were protected.

Clr Gannon said: "I feel it is a shame that the buildings just seem to be left to go to rack and ruin. With a bit of a spruce-up the Guildhall would look fantastic.

"It would be a prime asset to Winsford."
