School is Hale-d in Ofsted report

HALE school is 'very effective' with an 'excellent ethos for learning', say Ofsted inspectors.

The education watchdog visited the primary and junior school in November and has just released its report.

The inspectors rated 98 per cent of lessons as good, very good or excellent.

One music lesson, were pupils played in a big band style, has been put on the Ofsted website as an example of best practice.

Exam results were described as well above average compared to similar schools.

Children's behaviour was described as almost always very good and often excellent and that the teachers accept only the highest standards.

Headteacher Jane Pristley put the results down to the good relationships between staff and pupils.

She said: "The teachers worked so hard to prepare for it, and I was really proud of the children, they really did their best.

"These days, with people talking about bad behaviour from pupils, to have conduct like that, it's really good.

"It's a big thing to have a report and everyone was very, very nervous about it."

However, the report also said pupils need more cultural education and need to take less holidays during term time.

The report also praised the attractive presentation of the school.

Ms Pristley added: "It's important to get the message to children that the place where they come to work is a nice place, that they deserve the best."
