NANTWICH Town hit top form with a superb 3-1 victory over league leaders Mossley.
Arguably their best result of their season so far, the Dabbers had to fight back from 1-0 but powered their way to three points at Jackson Avenue, last Saturday.
Attracting Football League scouts for the third game running, top scorer Wes Wilkinson saw an effort hacked off the line as Nantwich enjoyed the better of a goal-less first-half.
And they must have thought it wasn't their day when Howard netted to put Mossley in front on 50 minutes.
However the Dabbers were back on level terms 10 minutes later when Ashley Lawton's goalbound effort fell to feet of player boss Nigel Gleghorn who made no mistake.
Well on top now, Wilkinson was hacked down on the edge of the area and Danny Griggs stepped up to put Nantwich in front with a stunning set piece on 65 minutes.
Another demonstration of Wilkinson's skills led to the winner on 80 minutes as he picked up the ball in the centre circle and darted through several defenders before he was brought down in the area.
This time the striker got up himself to hammer home the spot kick, taking his tally to an impressive 21 goals for the season.
Understandably, the player boss was a happy man.
"It was a very good performance and finally we got our just deserves," said Gleghorn.
"We had a couple of chances before the break and in the second half we upped the tempo on my insistence.
"We took the game to them and even though they went in front, we responded well and still felt we could win it.
"Danny Griggs is playing superb at the moment."
Aware of the scouts in attendance, Gleghorn feels his top scorer is ready for a move into the Football League.
"It's good for him and we want him to be playing in a better standard of football," he added.
"He should be playing league football and he's ready."
Nantwich entertain Wroxham in the FA Vase Fourth Round on Saturday.
"We're at home so we've got a good chance of getting through," concluded Gleghorn.
