Post office on the move

WIDNES post office is closing for at least five weeks while it moves site.

The Windmill Centre office will close from January 21 and the new branch will be at 3 Widnes Road - the old post office site.

The post office says the new premises will not be ready until the end of February at the earliest.

Retail line manager Mike Wakley said: "We apologise to customers for the inconvenience this unforeseen closure will undoubtedly cause.

"We had hoped to maintain a service within the co-op until we had fitted out alternative premises elsewhere in the town.

"However, the co-op recently informed us that we must vacate the premises at the end of the month."

From February 22 customers will be able to get motor vehicle licenses from Blackhorse Post office on Cronton Lane.
