Hornets halt Heath

North West Counties Cup

Halton Hornets U12s 41

Thatto Heath U12s 0

HORNETS progressed to the next round following a brilliant display.

The home side opened the scoring early on with a superb long range effort from Andrew Stevens-Davies following a defence-splitting pass from Gareth O'Brien, the latter converting the first of his two goals.

Stevens-Davies increased the lead when he was put through.

Jamie Hurstfield converted to give the home side a deserved 12-0 lead at half time.

The second half saw two early tries, one following a barging run from Hurstfield, the other a superb interception from Ryan Risley who ran 40 yards to cross the whitewash.

O'Brien and Hurstfield converted.

Lewis Bailey then latched onto a ball from O'Brien to race over out wide. A penalty from Hurstfield increased the lead to 30-0.

Matthew Hyland got on the scoresheet with a darting run, Hurstfield converting to make the score 36-0.

Shortly before the end Stevens-Davies went looking for his hat trick and with only the full back to beat he cut inside but was trapped in the process.

The referee gave a penalty try, which was converted by Hurstfield.
