Your old mobile can raise money

YOUR old mobile phone could help to raise up to £5m to combat child cruelty and homelessness.

That's the message from the NSPCC and Crisis.

Sainsburys has launched a mobile phone recycling scheme with Fonebak to encourage customers to recycle their unwanted handsets.

Each reusable phone is worth £5 and each recyclable phone could add a further 25p.

Susie Davies, NSPCC corporate fundraiser, said: "It's staggering to think of the amount of money in old mobile phones sitting around in homes and offices that could be converted into donations worth millions of pounds."

Shaks Ghosh, Crisis chief executive, said: "Money donated to Crisis will help us transform the lives of people coping with the impact of homelessness so they can fulfil their potential."

The NSPCC will put the money towards their campaign to end cruelty to children.

Crisis, the national charity for solitary homeless people, works all year to help vulnerable and marginalized people cope with nowhere to live.
