Matter of taste!

I FULLY agree with Mike Balmford's comments (Dear Star, December 25) about the Continental Market held in Church Square on November 29.

It was like a breath of fresh air to the shopping precinct. My wife and I bought lovely sweet juicy grapes and tangerines from Provence, chestnuts from the Black Forest, a selection of delicious French cheeses and the cider from Normandy was just right with the Sunday roast.

I also agree with Mike's comments on the farmers market.

It should be supported and advertised more by St Helens Council. It should be brought into the town centre where shoppers can see free-range eggs (less than 24 hours old) on sale alongside fresh local fruit and veg.

The free-range chickens and organic beef available really do taste better when they haven't been touched by chemicals. There is a wide range of Lancashire cheeses and bacon that does not have that horrible white residue when cooked. Give it a go (last Friday of every month), you will not be disappointed.
