North West Counties junior and youth Rugby League round-up

Leigh East u11 12

Latchford u11 24

LATCHFORD started the New Year with an excellent all round display.

Their expansive approach resulted in five sparkling tries via Tom Green, two, Andrew Unsworth, Matt Reid and Becky Cooper.

Tom and Matt added goals.

Rylands u12 6

Wigan St Judes u12 4

THIS was an entertaining encounter in which both teams showed an abundance of skill in defence.

Player of the match Lee Beswick scored a brilliant interception try from the half way line for Rylands.

Jordan Burke converted and Rylands' top tackler was Antony Whelan.

Hindley u12 16

Crosfields u12 0

CROSFIELDS worked hard in defence throughout the first half but they were unable to break through a strong Hindley line.

A heavy pitch made the second half difficult for a tired Crosfields side and the home team were able to take control.

Ben Vernon was the top tackler for Crosfields.

Ince Rose Bridge u13 8

Rylands u13 24

RYLANDS' solid defence proved to be the difference between the two sides in this entertaining and skilful match.

The try scorers for Rylands were player of the match Joel Harrigan, coach's award winner Jason Rutter, Jack Reid, Liam Walsh and Phil Syers.

Jack knocked over two goals and Rylands' top tackler was Chris Dolan.

Latchford u14 0

Haydock u14 38

THE final score is not a fair reflection of this good, clean game.

Latchford defended well in the main and their player of the match and top tackler was Barry Styles and Ashley Pemberton respectively.

Leigh Miners u14 6

Crosfields u14 0

CROSFIELDS, playing their first game in a month, made too many mistakes early in their sets.

They tackled well though and it took an obstruction try to beat them.

Rylands u18 30

Folly Lane u18 6

RYLANDS recovered well from a poor start and proved themselves to be too strong for a spirited Folly Lane side.

The try scorers for Rylands were Anthony Reilly, two, Mike Thomason, two, Tom Kinder and Andy Moulsdale, who also knocked over three conversions.

Nick Settle and Chris Johnson also made key contributions.
