Awards for top college students

SUCCESSFUL achievements of Halton College students were celebrated at an awards ceremony in the Queens Hall.

A special award was presented to the best student in each curriculum area.

Courageous people who had overcome personal problems, often against immense difficulties, were honoured.

Principal Ian Clinton said he was delighted so many local businesses had shown their support.

The Runcorn & Widnes World sponsored the 'Move On' award for Skills for Life. The winner was Jonathon Woolrich.

Three new awards were presented to students who staff felt deserved special recognition. The winners were Sarah Simpson of creative and service industries, Martin Carr of community and skills development and Daniel Topping of business, humanities, science and technology. Lisa Roberts received the Alan Carr Shotton Memorial Award for Part Time Student of the Year. Sarah Simpson received the Chamber of Commerce Award for Full Time Student of the Year.
