Any other readers recall my bizarre sighting?

THE article in the Star (December 4 ) relating to a UFO sighting in 1978 jogged my memory of a more recent sighting of something unusual in our skies. At the time, I intended writing about it, but didn't get around to doing so.

I was returning home late from work in the dusk of a July evening in 2001 when, approaching Helena Road along Bold Road, Sutton I saw what at first I thought was a police helicopter in the sky to the west of St Helens Junction station. On turning into Helena Road, I could see that it was something else.

The object appeared as a dark shadow and I could not see any detail on it except for a number of lights. I estimate that there were between 15 and 20 white lights underneath with a single bright green light in the centre. None of the lights were flashing.

I was not the only person to see this object. After turning into Station Road, I distinctly recall seeing two girls pointing to this object in the sky. I had drawn level with it by Peckers Hill Road, but by the time I had passed Monastery Road, the object had disappeared.

I wonder if any other reader recalls seeing this incident in 2001.
