Family quest

AN elderly lady from Ontario writes in to see if anyone can tie up a few of her family links, with a starting point in St Helens during the turn of last century.

Marjorie Blakely is keen to contact any relatives of her late mother, Beatrice Alice Moss (or their descendants). Born on January 12, 1903, Marjorie's mother was placed in a Barnardo's Home at the age of three and was sent to Canada in 1912.

Clues are thin on the ground after all this time, but Marjorie knows that in 1906 a maternal aunt of her mother's, named Rodgers, lived at 130 Birchley Street, St Helens.

KEEN

She'd appreciate even the sketchiest of details and is also keen to contact any descendants of four other members of her family, believed to have originated from St Helens district: Alfred and Ellen Moss (nee Leyland) and a half-brother and half-sister of Marjorie's mother, James Moss (born circa 1891) and Jessie Moss (born around 1892).

With the rapid escalation of interest in family genealogy and the considerable number of local folk with the surname of Moss, there's just a glimmer of hope for Marjorie who can be contacted at 20 Park Street North, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada K9J 3V4.
