ON December 28 at approximately 8.45am I went over the railway bridge on Broad Oak Lane.

At the bottom of the hill, on turning the corner in the road, I started to skid and after taking correcting action continued slowly on my way.

Two police officers in the car at the time, can testify that I was not speeding.

I UNDERSTAND that a car skidded and hit a hedge in Broadoak Lane, Mobberley, early on Friday morning.

I also believe that a car was involved in another accident which resulted in the attendance of two ambulances, two fire engines and the police.

Broadoak Lane, of course, is the road cut out of the gritters' route to save Cheshire County Council money.

When one considers the cost of all this, surely it is much cheaper and safer to grit the road.

I understand the gritter went down the road at 11am this morning - too late for several people.
