A KNUTSFORD vicar is inviting couples to renew their wedding vows in a special service on Sunday.

The Rev Julian Heaton hopes couples will attend the service at St Cross Church to display commitment to their marriage.

"Marriage is often in the news, either as something out of fashion or under pressure," he told the Knutsford Guardian on Monday.

"We want to encourage couples in their journey together."

The normal Sunday service, starting at 9.30am, will be followed by a special ceremony celebrating marriage.

Mr Heaton hopes couples will stand up in church and reaffirm their vows in front of the rest of the congregation.

All are welcome to join in whether they usually attend church or not.

"The millennium is a good time to ask questions about our lives," said Mr Heaton.

He hopes that people from all over Knutsford will attend the service and bring photographs and momentoes of their wedding day.

The service is one of a special series being held by St Cross this month.
